Auto Trendlines
Significance-scored automatic trendlines with breakout alerts. Draws the lines you would draw — instantly.
What It Does
Every experienced trader draws trendlines. The problem? It's manual, subjective, and you miss lines when you're not looking. One trader's key trendline is another trader's afterthought. And when you switch timeframes, you start from scratch.
Auto Trendlines solves this by algorithmically drawing trendlines from confirmed swing points — the same swing points you'd identify manually, but computed instantly and consistently. Each line is scored for significance based on the number of price touches it has: a line with five touches is objectively more important than one with two. You see that information at a glance.
But the real power is in breakout detection. When price breaks through a significant trendline, you get an alert. Not a lagging alert based on a close beyond the line — a precise, confirmed breakout signal that tells you a key level just gave way. Combine this with the Swing Detection Engine for a clean, objective trend-following system that draws itself.
Key Features
Get Started in 4 Steps
Add to Your Chart
Search for 'Auto Trendlines TheTraderShark' on TradingView and add it to your chart. The default settings draw trendlines with a minimum of 2 touches — a good starting point.
Identify Key Lines
Look for trendlines labeled 'Strong' or with 3+ touches. These are your key structural levels. Price tends to respect these lines until it doesn't — and when it breaks, the move is often significant.
Set Breakout Alerts
Enable breakout alerts to get notified when price breaks a trendline. Focus on breakouts from Strong lines for the highest probability trades. Alerts fire on confirmed closes beyond the line.
Combine with Structure Tools
Pair with the Swing Detection Engine or Structure Zig-Zag for confluence. A trendline break that aligns with a BOS (Break of Structure) is a powerful trade signal.
Settings & Configuration
Number of bars used to confirm swing points for trendline anchoring. Lower values create more lines from minor swings.
Minimum number of price touches required before a trendline is drawn. Increase to 3+ for fewer, more significant lines.
Display the significance label (Weak/Moderate/Strong) next to each trendline for quick quality assessment.
Maximum number of trendlines displayed at any time. When the limit is reached, the weakest lines are removed first.
Width of the trendlines in pixels. Strong lines are automatically drawn slightly thicker regardless of this setting.
Color for ascending support trendlines.
Color for descending resistance trendlines.
Enable visual markers and alert conditions when price breaks through a trendline on a confirmed close.
Non-Repainting Verified
Once a signal prints on the chart, it stays. No redrawing, no lookback bias, no false history. Every signal you see is exactly what you would have seen in real-time.
